Delbert Hart is seeking comment on what colors to use in v2.9 at Titan. What are some of the game's deficiencies? He's also seeking a Perl programmer to help him with his SC tool kit.
Aggie Land wants player pictures
4-27: Aggie Land, who operates a cool site and plays pretty darn good, too, is collecting images of different SC players. He's going to post a page where people can try to match pictures with empire names. Send pictures as attachments to Aggie Land.
Azo named best SC player
4-26: Azo, an empire played by Chris John, garnered the most votes in Chris's weekly poll as the best Stellar Crisis player. In all, 124 votes were received, of which 19 went to the empire Azo.
Here are the empires and votes received: Azo, 19; BigB, 15; BugLady, 9; Aggie land, 7; i-m-ok, 5; Bird of Prey, 4 (I only voted for myself once, hehehe); Middle Earth, 4; Musashi (aka Miyamoto), 4; DPR, 3; Kaizer, 1 (beat Azo in a recent tournament); Vegetti, 2; WolfPack 1.
Chris said he felt this was more of a popularity contest. He felt BigB should have won.
The next poll asks: Which color should the text be on SC servers? Examples are given for the choices of yellow, blue or red.
Titan to shut down April 28
The Titan server, which hosts v2.9, will close down April 28 due to the current Sysop moving.
MKII data base completely wiped
4-25: Peter Bortas reported the MKII database was completely wiped out. Statistics were restored from a backup. No one will be credited with a ruin.
On the bright side, the second Twice Lowtech game in Stellar Crisis history has been posted at MKII. The game should be a good test of the new data base.
Vividnet adds Siberia series
4-24: A new 24 hour series entitled Siberia was implemented on VividNet after requests for a .2 tech game. Simon Gilbee, server administrator, estimated it would take about 40 updates to reach BR2. An empire at BR2 would roll over those with BR1 ships. Fleets would be quite larger.
MKII data base was backed up
4-25: David and Per recently wrote to the MKII talk group that there is a backup of the database. The problem is that there is a bug in the game which occurs when the game is restarted. The programmers will be working on the problem in the near future.
Brain Candy gives SC a heart!
4-22: Brain Candy sent the following, after it received messages from SC Room users:
I was just asking for archived email messages, not recommendations! :--)
Several dedicated sites, extensive game support, strongly motivated supporters... You definitively got your heart all right!!!
Emmanuel
Thanks all for sending messages to Brain Candy. I'm sure we will be getting more players (nukes) for our efforts.
I see it didn't take long for Chris to get his page listed, too.
Avenger1 announces home page
4-21: Avenger1started a home page. Write him with suggestions to make it better. He's new at html programming.
Brain Candy wants response
4-21: Brain Candy recently listed Stellar Crisis on it's link page for interactive games. I want the game to receive a red heart award for being one of the best games on the Net.
Emmanuel wrote back, saying, "The heart rewards outstanding games. We unfortunately did not have time to try Stellar Crisis ourself yet, and relied on the numerous sites pointing to SC to aknowledge its importance for inclusion in Brain Candy. Can you forward to me, say, a dozen email praising Stellar Crisis for being outstanding? I would then have a reason to give it a heart!"
OK, the challenge has been given. Send your comments to Emmanuel at Brain Candy.
So who is the best SC player?
4-19: Chris John's Poll of the Week asks "In your opinion, who are the (3) best overall Stellar Crisis players?"

4-12: Chris John's Poll of the Week asks "Is breaking alliance a justifiable way to win a game?"
In last week's poll, 49 people voted in four days. Results: 49 percent preferred MKII, 39 percent preferred v2.8 and 12 percent liked v2.9.
Poll of the Week started
4-7: Chris John has started Poll of the Week. The first poll - see blue box mid-way down page - asks which version of Stellar Crisis you think is better. Hope Chris will share his findings.
Regensburg goes down, up

4-2: Tim Campbell, who plays as Topcat, has opened his Home Page, which chronicles the history of his empire.
Regensburg returns!
4-2: The Regensburg University's SC server (all of roxen went down) is back and working as fast as ever. Wolfgang says he was away for Easter. He didn't return until late yesterday. He says he often leaves for weekends. If the server goes down while he's gone there's no one to re-start it.
Lysator takes over Regensburg
4-1: Regensburg has been down since Saturday while the folks at Lysator transfer the newest version of the game to the server. The development comes after the Swedes' bought out the Germans' Internet provider's company. Regensburg should be back on-line sometime today at a new URL. Talk is Lysator folks are compiling a new game that incorporates rules from v2.8, v2.9 and MKII. Let's hope the new game includes the best features of the three current games.
Clan Wars sent back to Chris
